The relaunched Shergold brand adds a 12-string electric with FilterSonic humbuckers, a poplar body, and a bridge that mixes body-through and top-load stringing.
The relaunch of Shergold continues with the Telstar Standard ST14 12-String, a model that borrows openly from Firebird, Gretsch, and Telecaster shapes without falling into direct imitation. Designed by Patrick James Eggle for UK distributor Barnes & Mullins, it uses a poplar body, maple neck, and laurel fingerboard. The result is a clean, slightly offset electric that reads as both vintage and current.
At just over £400, the Telstar includes two FilterSonic humbuckers, a single volume and tone control, and a three-way switch. The bridge is the most distinctive hardware choice: six strings run through the body while the other six top-load, a 12-way adjustable setup that affects setup and resonance. Two rows of closed-gear tuners and a synthetic bone nut round out the spec. Finishes are limited to high-gloss Champagne Gold and Black.
Initial hands-on reviews point to strong playability for a 12-string and a versatile enough voice for the price. The main complaints are practical rather than musical — slightly large pickup routes and a shortage of color options
