Tríada Announces Debut Album ‘Exuvia’

Buenos Aires trio Tríada built an audience by reinterpreting songs like João Gilberto’s “O Pato” and Maria Elena Walsh’s “Canción De Bañar La Luna.” Their 2025 covers EP, De Versiones y Alma, turned that material into a calling card. On October 23, the group will step away from it with Exuvia, their debut album for Verve/Mercury Records.

The title references the scientific term for an animal shedding its skin — a fitting frame for a band moving from covers to original songwriting. Percussionist and vocalist Diamela Spina, guitarist Aylen Reynoso, and singer Julia Percowicz formed the trio at a music conservatory a few years ago. Their early interpretations earned attention online, but Exuvia is meant to establish them as writers, not just arrangers.

First single “Clara” offers a clearer picture. The folk track follows a down-on-her-luck older woman who finds new meaning by reconnecting with the land around her. Percowicz wrote the story around the phrase “Claro que Clara,” then built the character outward — bitter, but not without movement. It is the kind of specific storytelling that gives the album’s transition some weight.

With a mostly blank canvas behind them and a long week of preparation behind the announcement, the trio appears focused on what the debut represents: a change in material, not just a change in scale.
