A representative for Ariana Grande has confirmed that the singer will take a deliberate step back from visibility once her Eternal Sunshine Tour concludes. The statement, issued Sunday, frames the decision as a withdrawal from “public-facing work and appearances” following a period of what the rep described as “endless, ongoing public scrutiny.”

Grande’s tour ends September 1 with the last of ten shows at London’s O2 Arena, preceded by three final North American dates in Chicago this week. The rep stressed that Grande wants to finish on a high note, “both healthily and happily,” and that she has loved every minute of the tour. The announcement arrives days after the release of her video for “Petal,” which sparked online discussion about her physical well-being. A source close to the singer told People that the show itself is “very physical” and requires significant athleticism, pushing back on health concerns without directly addressing them.

The planned withdrawal already has visible effects: Grande will no longer appear in a London West End revival of Sunday in the Park With George alongside Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey. Her earlier removal from the upcoming American Horror Story season, however, was attributed to scheduling conflicts with the tour rather than the current hiatus. Grande won’t vanish entirely; she co-stars in the Meet the Parents sequel Focker-in-Law, due in November.
