Bell X1’s new single arrives ahead of November’s ‘Good Bones’, and a third Vicar Street night confirms the Dublin demand. Elsewhere, David Geraghty is releasing a solo record of his own.
Bell X1 have released ‘Atlas’, the first taste of ‘Good Bones’, the album set for November. The same announcement confirms a third night at Dublin’s Vicar Street, an addition that carries more information than the single itself: whatever the band’s new material sounds like, the appetite for hearing it in that room is holding.
Vicar Street has become a reliable measure for Irish acts of Bell X1’s generation. Not a nostalgia circuit, not an arena compromise. Filling it repeatedly suggests a live audience that has stayed with the band rather than merely remembered it, which matters for a record arriving in a month when attention is scarce.
Running alongside all of this is David Geraghty’s own solo record, released with an instore launch at Dublin’s Spin Dizzy Records and an Irish tour. Two release cycles from the same corner of Irish music, one under the band’s name and one under a member’s, is a scheduling coincidence worth noting rather than a statement about the group. Solo records from long-standing band members rarely resolve anything about the band. They tend to clear space.
What ‘Atlas’ actually promises for ‘Good Bones’ is still the open question. The single is out; the album follows in November; the extra Vicar Street date says the band intends to test both in front of people rather than let the record sit.
