Billy Strings has broken his left leg in a skateboarding accident. The injury occurred backstage after his concert in Charlottesville, Virginia on Saturday night.

In an Instagram post, the guitarist explained he attempted a back 180, a trick he said he had done many times before, but landed awkwardly. He described hearing the bone snap over the noise of the departing crowd. Surgical repair with plates and screws was required.

The incident forces an immediate recalculation for one of music’s most relentless touring artists. Strings has built a formidable reputation on live performance energy, making the physical setback particularly consequential for his schedule.

He noted in his post that Dave Grohl, who famously performed from a custom throne after breaking his own leg in 2015, had already reached out to offer the seat. No revised tour dates have been announced.
