Bruce Dickinson: Solo Album Recorded at Studio 606 Is ‘Heavy as Shit’

Bruce Dickinson has offered the first real details of his next solo album, cut earlier this year at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Los Angeles. Due in 2027, the record is a deliberate pivot from 2024’s The Mandrake Project, which arrived with a comic-book series and layered narrative arc. This time, Dickinson is paring the music back to something direct.

“It’s kind of stand-alone,” he said in an interview with VCX. “There’s one song that has a bit of something to do with Mandrake. Now, the album is heavy as shit.” He made clear that he has no interest in tying the music to a larger story unless a truly compelling reason presents itself. Instead, the focus is on weight and immediacy.

The sessions were helmed by Brendan Duffey, who also produced the Mandrake recordings, and took place over January and February of 2026. Dickinson’s recent live appearance—singing “All the Young Dudes” with Billie Joe Armstrong’s Coverups at Comic-Con—made for a lighter footnote. On the horizon, Iron Maiden will launch the “Run for Your Lives” North American tour, with support from Megadeth and Anthrax. But the solo album suggests a separate creative lane, one built on riffs rather than world-building.
