D23 Brings Frozen 3 Plot Details and a New Song for Olaf

Disney used D23 to confirm the next Frozen film’s wedding storyline and introduce an original song for a snowwoman named Samantha.

Disney presented new details from Frozen 3 at D23 on Friday, anchoring the sequel around Anna’s wedding to Kristoff while sending the sisters beyond Arendelle. Cast members Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, and Josh Gad appeared as part of the presentation.

Menzel framed the film as both a family milestone and a larger expedition. “We will find ourselves far from Arendelle in wild and dangerous land,” she said. The story gives Anna and Elsa what the studio called their biggest journey yet.

The presentation also added a new character to the series. Gad’s Olaf will receive a love interest, a snowwoman named Samantha, and Gad performed an original song written for her. Bell and Menzel also delivered a surprise performance tied to the film.

Frozen 3 is scheduled to open in theaters on November 24, 2027. It arrives eight years after the previous installment. A fourth film was reportedly shot back-to-back with it, though Disney has not announced a release date.

The D23 appearance kept the focus on the musical machinery that has carried the franchise, giving the next chapter a new song before its full rollout begins.
