Hardcore is closing ranks after the death of Lou Koller. The Sick Of It All frontman’s passing, announced last week following a battle with cancer, has drawn a series of direct, unadorned tributes from bands shaped by the New York institution he led for decades.

At the revived Warped Tour in Long Beach, Santa Cruz thrashers Drain ripped through Sick Of It All’s 1995 track “It’s Clobberin’ Time.” On Wednesday night, Fiddlehead brought the same impulse to Brooklyn’s Warsaw, stepping away from their own catalog to play the song. They were joined by Walter Schreifels—a figure who needs no surname in this scene, carrying his own history through Gorilla Biscuits, Quicksand, and Rival Schools—to deliver a cover that was less performance than communal salute.

Frontman Pat Flynn used the moment to launch himself into the crowd, a gesture that felt less like a stage dive and more like trust in the room.
