The Finnish melodic death metal band previews their milestone tenth record with a somber new visual.
Insomnium has released a video for “Shadowlife,” a track drawn from the band’s forthcoming tenth studio album. No release date or title for the album has been confirmed, but the new clip signals that the Finnish group is moving toward a career milestone few metal acts reach with the same core identity intact.
Formed in 1997, Insomnium has built a catalog defined by melancholic melodies and steady thematic weight. Their last full-length, Anno 1696, arrived in 2023 and deepened the band’s exploration of historical darkness. “Shadowlife” continues in that vein visually, though the band has not yet detailed the album’s conceptual scope.
The video’s arrival underscores Insomnium’s method: advance without over-announcing, letting the work accumulate meaning over time. For a group approaching their third decade, the quiet rollout of a tenth album suggests confidence rather than caution.
