Laura Veirs Returns with Temple Songs, an Album Recorded Alone in Her Backyard

After wondering if she would write songs again, Laura Veirs retreated to her backyard studio and made an entire album alone. Temple Songs arrives 14 August via Raven Marching Band Records.

Laura Veirs will release Temple Songs, her fourteenth album, on 14 August through her own Raven Marching Band Records. The record was written, arranged, produced and performed entirely by Veirs — guitars, bass, drums, tambourine, percussion and all vocals. The only outside contribution is an uncredited saxophone part.

She tracked the album over three months in autumn 2025 inside the Temple of Bloom, a backyard studio where she worked with just two microphones and a laptop. Pitch correction never entered the picture. Rain on the skylight and crows passing through the property stayed in the recordings, a conscious lean into the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi. Philip Weinrobe, known for his work with Adrienne Lenker, mixed the project.

Lead single “Flying Into Darkness” surfaced alongside a video shot on tour in France. Veirs described the song
