Mount Shrine’s Final Transmission Arrives on Cryo Chamber

The Yasu Ether Project has been released as the final work from Mount Shrine, the project of Brazilian producer César Alexandre. It is the last audio he sent to Simon Heath at Cryo Chamber before Alexandre died from COVID-19 on April 15, 2021. A different version had circulated on his own Bandcamp before that page closed; this release is the label’s preservation of the material.

Alexandre built his sound from lo-fi field recordings, vinyl crackle, tape hiss, and long drone structures, drawing on influences from Brian Eno to Akira Yamaoka’s score for Silent Hill 2. He debuted on Cryo Chamber with Winter Restlessness in 2018 and followed with Ghosts on Broken Pavements in 2019. He also recorded as Mount Hibiki and, in vaporwave, as Lindsheaven Virtual Plaza. The label has already released All Roads Lead Home and The Mount Hibiki Tapes in his memory.

Across the album, the crackle and hiss that defined Mount Shrine remain central. Pieces like “Gaseous Peak” and “Polysunset” sit inside that texture, pairing bird calls and daytime field recordings with a somber, patient drone. The effect is less grief than quiet: an unsettling calm that does not resolve. It is a final transmission, exactly as it was left.
