Sorry Take Aim at a Mythologized Villain on ‘Tom Will Smack Your Ass’

The new single sets a parody of a loutish Tom against slow-motion shots of asses getting smacked, just before the band’s Green Man set.

Sorry have shared a new single built around a very specific kind of British caricature. “Tom Will Smack Your Ass” introduces its title character as a mythologized villain: someone who smacks asses without asking and, according to the lyrics, has sex in his car while noting that it is a Fiat. The band’s press release frames Tom as a parody of a recognizable archetype rather than a real person.

The video, co-directed by frontwoman Asha Lorenz and Flo Webb, consists almost entirely of slow-motion shots of people getting their asses smacked. Lorenz kept the tone light about the production, stating that no bums were harmed and thanking everyone who contributed. The song follows the band’s 2025 album Cosplay and a pair of February singles, “Billy Elliot” and “Alone In Cologne.”

The track arrives just before Sorry’s performance at this weekend’s Green Man Festival. It reads as an intentionally ridiculous goof, a short character vignette that undercuts any pressure to treat the band with undue seriousness.
