The Interrupters Return With ‘Warrior Spirit’, Featuring Travis Barker and Tim Armstrong

The Los Angeles band ends a four-year gap with a new single and video, while a stray Instagram detail points to a possible Tim Armstrong solo record.

The Interrupters have ended a four-year silence with “Warrior Spirit,” a single that places the Los Angeles band alongside two fixtures of California punk: blink-182’s Travis Barker and Rancid’s Tim Armstrong. A video accompanies the release.

The guest list says something about where the group sits. Barker has spent two decades moving between pop-punk stages and studio work, while Armstrong is one of the architects of the 1990s ska-punk wave the Interrupters have been steadily reworking from the outside in. Their return lands at a moment when that shared history is being picked up again by a younger audience, much of it arriving without the genre baggage that once came attached.

Armstrong, meanwhile, appears to have his own project moving. Drummer Joey Castillo mentioned on Instagram that he had been in the studio with him, which points toward a solo record. Nothing further has been confirmed, and the suggestion currently rests on that post alone.

The band has also confirmed European tour dates for 2027, which gives the new material room to develop rather than leaving it as a standalone track. For a group that has built its reputation on live work, that itinerary carries as much weight as the single itself.
