The Bristol artists reunite on the second single from Tricky’s forthcoming album Different When It’s Silent, a record built around shared geography and muted tension.
Tricky is rolling out his new album with a second single, “Because I Don’t Know,” out now. The track features Bristol singer Mitch Sanders, whose falsetto sits above Tricky’s quiet, rumbling delivery. The pairing draws from a shared hometown, giving the song a feel of local exchange rather than distant collaboration.
Sanders appears multiple times on Different When It’s Silent, due 17 July via False Idols. The album, which also includes the earlier single “Out of Place” with Marta, leans on a sense of community. It’s a choice that fits Tricky’s career-long tendency to pull voices from around him, shaping a sound that’s more collective than solo.
“Because I Don’t Know” lands as Tricky tours the UK and Europe. He plays Poland’s Drums Fusion Festival on 23 May, then moves through dates in the Netherlands, France, Belgium, and elsewhere. Later summer festival appearances include Green Man and Forwards. The steady live schedule frames an album that, from these first two tracks, seems intent on quiet intensity and shared space.
