Wendy’s has released a six-track emo EP, Songs to Listen to in a Wendy’s Parking Lot, as a collaboration with Rise Records. The project draws singers from Silverstein, Anberlin, blessthefall, State Champs, Memphis May Fire, and Holy Wars, including Shane Told, Beau Bokan, Matty Mullins, Chloe Kinnon, Derek DiScanio, and Kat Leon. Song titles lean into the setting, with Bokan delivering lines like “I’ll take another Dave single cause I’m single again” on “The Best Combo Meal on the Worst Night of My Life.”
The EP is the clearest extension of a promotional identity Wendy’s has been building around 2000s emo and post-hardcore. In 2019, the chain traded insults with Miss May I, Atreyu, Hopeless Records, and Victory Records on National Roast Day. Two acts on this EP, Memphis May Fire and State Champs, were among the bands
