30,000 Monkies Announce New Album Super Rebound, Share “Unsound Hero”

Belgian quartet 30,000 Monkies will release their new album Super Rebound on September 18 through FVN KVULT Rekords. The first single, “Unsound Hero,” runs past six minutes and maps a deliberate shift from slow-burning, autotuned melancholy into heavier sludge territory.

The band — Ruben Savelkoul, Michiel De Naegel, Cyril Beerten, and Mattias Jonniaux — recorded the album with Kasper De Sutter and Martijn De Bondt at GAM Studios. Scott Evans mixed the record at Antisleep Audio, and Matthew Barnhart handled mastering. It will be available on CD, vinyl, and digital formats.

As the group describes it, “Unsound Hero” opens with a long, tension-heavy intro built from layered vocals and detuned choral textures. The track then drops into a more direct, physical section before stripping back to two clean guitars and isolated screaming. A second, unexpected impact closes the piece — a reluctant but total obliteration.

The single offers the first concrete look at Super Rebound. Its pacing suggests a record comfortable withholding release before committing to it fully.
