The executive producer of the new Starz series reunites with drill’s Brooklyn pulse and R&B smoothness for a title track built on tension.
The first notes of a title sequence often set the entire tone for what follows. For the upcoming British boxing drama ‘Fightland,’ executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has crafted a theme song that feels less like an overture and more like a warning. Returning to music for the series, he enlists the specific energies of Brooklyn drill’s Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow, alongside the contrasting cool of Jeremih.
Produced by Kyeme Miller, the track operates on a principle of friction. The drill foundation, all skittering hi-hats and low-end pressure, provides a contemporary, street-level grit. Into this, 50 Cent deploys his familiar, weathered cadence, a voice that needs no elevation to command the room. Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow inject their verses with the localized urgency that defines their sound, while Jeremih’s melodic hook floats above the tension, a slick, almost taunting counterpoint. The result is a motivational anthem that feels earned, not manufactured, mirroring the struggle inherent in the ring and the streets it dramatizes.
