The platform’s new beta tool for Premium users visualizes the network of collaborators, samples, and covers behind individual tracks.
Spotify is introducing a new feature designed to surface the layers of collaboration and influence behind recorded music. Called SongDNA, the tool is now in a global beta release for Premium subscribers.
Presented as an interactive map, SongDNA aims to reveal the credited contributors, sampled works, interpolations, and known cover versions linked to a specific song. The feature moves beyond basic liner notes, attempting to visualize what the company describes as the “complex web” of creative input surrounding a track.
This development aligns with a growing listener interest in production credits and musical lineage, areas often obscured within streaming interfaces. By making this data navigable, Spotify potentially adds a contextual layer to its core listening experience. The success of the beta will likely depend on the depth and accuracy of the information it aggregates and presents.
