The singer and producer is taking legal action against the actor, claiming he is using a non-disclosure agreement from a settled lawsuit to silence her.
FKA twigs has filed a new lawsuit against Shia LaBeouf, alleging the actor is attempting to enforce an illegal non-disclosure agreement to prevent her from speaking about their past relationship. This legal action follows the 2023 settlement of her 2020 sexual battery lawsuit against him.
The new filing states that after the settlement, LaBeouf’s legal team initiated an arbitration proceeding against twigs. They claimed she breached the settlement’s NDA by stating in an interview that she did not feel safe. That arbitration was dismissed. Twigs’s lawsuit now seeks to invalidate the NDA itself, arguing it is unlawful under California law designed to protect survivors of sexual assault and harassment from being silenced.
This move represents a significant escalation in the long running legal conflict, shifting focus from the original allegations to the mechanisms of the settlement itself. The case highlights ongoing legal debates about the use of confidentiality agreements in settlements involving abuse claims.
