The Lemon Twigs Return with ‘Look Out For Your Mind!’

The D’Addario brothers’ sixth album refines their melodic craftsmanship without retreating into pure pastiche.

The Lemon Twigs released their new album Look Out For Your Mind! on May 2 via Captured Tracks. The record is the sixth full-length from brothers Brian and Michael D’Addario, who have spent nearly a decade building a catalog that openly draws from 1970s pop, rock, and orchestral traditions.

Since their 2016 debut Do Hollywood, the Long Island duo has attracted both admiration and a familiar line of criticism. Their music wears its influences on its sleeve, from the harmonies of Brian Wilson to the theatricality of early solo McCartney. Look Out For Your Mind! does not abandon those reference points. Instead it pushes the songwriting into tighter, more self-assured territory. The arrangements feel less like a studied revival and more like a working vernacular.

The debate around pop originality often splits into two camps: make something entirely new or accept the role of revivalist. The Lemon Twigs have long argued for a middle ground, where deep absorption of a musical language allows for fresh work within it. On this album, that approach pays off in songs that feel sturdy and unashamed.

Recorded with a live band feel and produced by the brothers themselves, the album reinforces their reputation as craftsmen who understand that a well-placed middle-eight or a layered vocal can be more resonant than any forced novelty. With Look Out For Your Mind!, the Lemon Twigs continue to refine a sound that is deliberately familiar yet never a simple copy.
