The footage aired as the group continues a four-night stand at Allegiant Stadium, with three award nominations and a comeback year under way.
BTS appeared at the 52nd American Music Awards not in person, but via a pre-taped performance filmed at their own concert. The set for “Hooligan,” a track from March’s Arirang, was captured during the group’s current run at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Red stage light, black outfits, and masked dancers framed the seven members as they performed to a crowd that was already in the room.
The AMAs confirmed BTS as a last-minute addition to the broadcast only five days earlier. The timing placed the performance right at the start of the group’s four-night stop in the city, which began Saturday and continues with shows on May 27 and 28. Taping the segment ahead of the awards ceremony meant the moment could travel beyond the stadium without taking anything away from the tour’s arc.
BTS are nominated for three awards this year: Artist of the Year, Best Male K-Pop Artist, and their single “Swim” is up for Song of the Summer. The nominations arrive in a year that already carries the weight of a full return. All seven members completed their mandatory military service, pursued solo work, and regrouped for Arirang. The album landed in March, and the tour will keep them moving through the rest of 2026, with another set of North American dates in August.
In a recent Rolling Stone cover story, RM described the thinking behind the group’s approach: “If we don’t challenge anymore, then I think there’s no reason that we should keep doing this as a team.” The Vegas performance, short but placed inside a major broadcast, functions as exactly that kind of signal. Not a victory lap. Something closer to a line in the sand.
