Laufey and Tegan & Sara to Appear on The Simpsons

The June 17 episode of The Simpsons on Disney+ will feature the two artists as musical guests, part of a summer lineup of exclusive episodes.

The Simpsons continues its long-running tradition of pulling in distinct musical talent. An upcoming Disney+ exclusive episode, “Extreme Makeover: Homer Edition,” will feature Laufey and Tegan & Sara as musical guests. The episode airs June 17, followed by two more exclusives on the platform: “Simpsley” on July 3 and “Yellow Mirror” on Aug. 26.

The logline centers on Homer and Marge’s date night derailing after Marge discovers Homer left the kids home with only a doorbell camera as babysitter. A tipsy Marge then daydreams three different versions of her husband. How Laufey and Tegan & Sara fit into those fantasies remains unclear. The show offered no further details beyond listing them as musical guests.

The Simpsons has a deep archive of music-world cameos, from Michael Jackson to Lady Gaga, Johnny Cash to Britney Spears. For Tegan & Sara, the appearance adds another television layer after adapting their memoir into the 2022 series High School. Laufey, whose jazz-indebted pop has drawn a wide younger audience, steps into a different kind of cultural frame here.

The episode is part of a slate of Disney+ Simpsons exclusives, a shift from the show’s longtime Fox broadcast home, which aired its 800th episode last December.
