Fuming Mouth Detail Third Album The Ringing Bell, Jay Weinberg Joins on Drums

The Massachusetts band returns with a new full-length produced by Kurt Ballou, enlisting the former Slipknot drummer and capturing a heavier, more direct sound after frontman Mark Whelan’s leukemia battle.

Fuming Mouth will release their third album The Ringing Bell on July 17 through Triple B Records. The announcement ends a period of relative quiet for the Massachusetts band, whose 2023 LP Last Day Of Sun was written while frontman Mark Whelan confronted leukemia. Now they return with a lineup shift that puts Jay Weinberg behind the kit, playing on the entire record.

Weinberg, known for his work in Slipknot, the E-Street Band, and Against Me!, steps into a band defined by its caustic blend of death metal and hardcore. That pairing isn’t ornamental. The first single “A Blaze Of Nihilism” lands with a precision that suggests the collaboration was deliberate, not a session-player fill-in. The track is mixed with clarity that still leaves the low end punishing, and the video, shot by Midvessel, captures the five-piece locked in and unrelenting.

The album was recorded with Kurt Ballou at GodCity, a familiar setting for Fuming Mouth and a sign that the band wanted continuity despite the personnel change. Ballou’s recent schedule has been stacked, but his presence here reinforces the project’s identity. The tracklist runs eleven songs, sequenced with titles like “Cheat Death” and “Finally Fearless” that carry a plainspoken defiance without falling into metaphor.

A dense US and Canadian tour begins in August, with support from Six Feet Under and Flesher on the first leg, then Revocation, Defeated Sanity, and Weeping in September. The routing is extensive and club-level, hitting spots like Foufounes in Montreal, 1720 in Los Angeles, and Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn. Tickets go on sale alongside the pre-order for the album, which arrives on vinyl and digital via Triple B.
