Shortly after a weather-related cancellation, Wallen’s Friday night concert delivered a stranger moment: he snatched a security guard’s phone and launched it into the audience.
Friday night in Pittsburgh, Morgan Wallen’s set took a turn that had nothing to do with the weather. Video circulating online shows the country singer mid-performance, reaching down toward a security guard positioned near the stage. Wallen grabs the guard’s phone—which was apparently filming—and, without breaking stride, chucks it backward over his head and into the crowd.
The moment occurred just a day before Wallen’s scheduled Saturday show in the same city was canceled due to an approaching storm that never arrived. That announcement came late, but not before the Friday gig had already left its mark.
Security-guard phone retrieval is not a typical concert ritual. The clip, first shared on Reddit and later amplified by Twitter account @countrysayingss, shows the guard standing still, holding the phone up toward the stage. Wallen’s reaction is immediate. The phone vanishes into the audience. A screen protector reportedly survived. That’s the only damage control available.
It’s not the first time this tour has seen equipment meet an unplanned end. Earlier in the trek, Wallen flipped his on-stage piano, citing technical issues. The phone toss adds to a pattern—not exactly a meltdown, but a low-grade series of physical reactions to small frustrations.
No statement has been issued from Wallen’s team about the phone. The guard, presumably, got the night off from filming duties.
