Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis Bring ‘The Warriors’ to Broadway in 2027

The stage adaptation, built from a 2024 concept album, will open at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre after previews next March.

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s long-developing adaptation of The Warriors has locked its Broadway timeline. Together with playwright Eisa Davis, Miranda will bring the story of a street gang’s harrowing overnight journey from the Bronx to Brooklyn to the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, with previews beginning in March 2027 and an opening set for April.

The stage work draws from Sol Yurick’s 1965 novel and the 1979 film. Miranda and Davis share credit for book, music, and lyrics. Directing is Jenny Koons, with Andy Blankenbuehler co-directing and choreographing. The production reunites a design team familiar from Miranda’s earlier projects: scenic designer David Korins, costume designer Dede Ayite, lighting designer Natasha Katz, and sound designer Jason Crystal.

The musical arrives after a concept-album version released in 2024. Executive-produced by Nas, that gender-swapped recording featured Ms. Lauryn Hill, Busta Rhymes, Ghostface Killah, RZA, Colman Domingo, and others, and reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Compilation Albums chart. The album served as both a standalone work and a testing ground for material now bound for the stage.

Warriors completes an informal New York trilogy for Miranda, following In the Heights and Hamilton. Ticket sales begin in October through the show’s website. Further casting and creative team announcements are expected in the coming months.
