Houston emo band Hew, featuring former members of Football, etc., shared the video for “Lie In It,” another preview of their forthcoming debut Your Version on Tiny Engines.
Hew released a new video for “Lie In It,” the third single from their album Your Version, due July 10 on Tiny Engines. The Houston group, which includes two former members of Football, etc., has spent the past few weeks introducing the record with a series of tightly wound, emotionally direct songs.
“Lie In It” works within a familiar midwestern emo framework—bright, interlocking guitar lines, a rhythm section that pushes the song forward without clutter, and a vocal melody that stays close to the instrumentation rather than overpowering it. The video, filmed in bandleader Lindsay Minton’s hometown, follows her through unremarkable streets and parking lots. Nothing dramatic happens, and that’s the point: the song’s motion comes from its own internal shifts, not from external spectacle.
Previous singles “Reconciliation” and the title track established Hew’s knack for blending precision with emotional heft. With “Lie In It,” the band leans further into restraint, allowing structure to build tension rather than relying on volume or velocity.
