Fed Ash and the HIRS Collective Detail Joint LP I Am Body Horror

The Northeastern corridor of U.S. grindcore has a way of producing particularly corrosive collaborations. Syracuse’s Fed Ash and Philadelphia’s the HIRS Collective have now joined that lineage with I Am Body Horror, a new LP available for pre-order via Square of Opposition Records.

Both acts operate at the more frayed edges of the genre. Fed Ash’s sound—a skronky deathgrind with traces of Full of Hell’s dissonant attack—meets the hardcore-informed breakdowns that remain a HIRS signature. The combination isn’t just heavy; it moves with a kind of twisted, artistic malfeasance that recalls the death-dance intensity of Denver’s Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire. Compelling, haunting, and unsparingly physical, the record gnashes where others might simply pummel.

There’s little room for neutral response. The collaboration makes sense on paper—both groups have spent years sharpening their version of American grindcore—and the early descriptions suggest a release that will test the stomachs of even seasoned listeners.
