TEN Moves Outside the SM System With New Agency ILLIMNT

After a decade split across NCT, WayV, and SuperM, the Thai singer and dancer has left SM, launched his own agency, and released “OUTWEST.”

TEN has spent a decade inside some of K-pop’s most layered systems. Debuting with NCT’s original five-member lineup in 2016, then moving through WayV and SuperM, the Thai singer became known as a precise dancer and adaptable performer. That history now sits behind him. In April, he left SM Entertainment and opened ILLIMNT, marking the move with the single “OUTWEST” and three sold-out shows in Bangkok.

The shift reads less as rejection than recalibration. Speaking with CLASH, TEN described his early self as a blank page, aware of his ability only through what others told him. Now he reaches for the word explorer, or chameleon, pointing to the distance between his two solo releases, TEN and STUNNER. The group work, he notes, taught him to move between rap-heavy NCT material, WayV’s direct high notes, and SuperM’s R&B and pop turns.

What emerges is an artist making an institutional break without an identity crisis. ILLIMNT arrives as a leaner frame for a performer already defined by adaptation. The Bangkok dates and “OUTWEST” suggest a start, not a reinvention.
