According to Naomi McPherson, MUNA wasn’t told that Gadot would be on the episode when they taped their segment a few days earlier.

After the taping, McPherson posted on Instagram thanking the show’s staff but also made a point of saying “a nice big huge free palestine.” The message carried added weight because Gadot is a former Israeli Defense Forces soldier and a vocal supporter of Israel. Rather than a generic political aside, McPherson’s statement read as a direct response to the booking itself, timed to an episode that placed MUNA next to one of the most visible Israeli public figures in Hollywood.

The statement does not suggest any conflict with Kimmel’s production team; McPherson specifically called the staff “legends” who “really went the extra mile.” But it makes clear that, had the band known the full guest list, the framing of their appearance might have landed differently. For MUNA, the platform came with an obligation to say something, and McPherson used it without waiting for the episode to air.
