Aili & Orson Release Japanese-Language Single ‘Achi Kochi’

Belgian-Japanese duo Aili & Orson have released “Achi Kochi,” the first preview of a second album expected in early 2027. Out now through Eskimo Recordings, the single shifts away from the neon-pop energy of their debut “Nandakke?” toward something more internal.

The title translates roughly to “all over the place,” and the track reflects that state. Looped Japanese vocals and motorik rhythms sit over drums from Lander Gyselinck, dreamy synth pads, and a hypnotic Moog bassline. It lands between dancefloor momentum and weariness—a song built for processing the load of family, work, and daily pressure rather than simply escaping it.

The decision to sing entirely in Japanese is deliberate. Following their “Dansu” EP and a partnership with Tokyo label TOKA, Aili & Orson are leaning further into Aili Maruyama’s heritage as they aim to widen their reach across Asia.

The duo’s first album brought broader recognition, topping KCRW’s Top 30 and earning rotation on KEXP and BBC Radio 6 Music, with support slots for L’Impératrice at L’Olympia Paris and the Roundhouse. Aili & Orson play Amsterdam Dance Event on October 22, with a headline show at Ancienne Belgique in Brussels next March.
