Laufey signs with Interscope and Verve after six years independent

Laufey has signed with Interscope Records and Verve Records, ending a six-year run as an independent artist. The move places her within Universal Music Group, pairing her with two labels that have historically operated across different parts of the commercial spectrum.

The signing was first reported by Variety, which notes that Laufey is currently working on new music. No release details have been announced.

Her path to this point has been built outside the major-label system. Across three studio albums, she has accumulated more than seven billion combined global streams and performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the National Symphony Orchestra and the China Philharmonic Orchestra. Her third album, A Matter of Time, was released in August 2025 via Vingolf Recordings and AWAL, with production from Spencer Stewart and Aaron Dessner.

The label change arrives as her work beyond recording continues to widen. In 2025, she launched the Laufey Foundation to support youth orchestra access, initially working with programmes including LA Phil’s YOLA, NYO2 and NYO Jazz. Last month’s fourth annual A Very Laufey Day reached 75 cities across more than 25 countries, with collaboration and merchandise proceeds directed to the foundation.

What Laufey records next for Interscope and Verve remains open. The signing places major-label resources behind an artist who built that audience independently.
