ILA Release Second Album Motherland With UK Tour to Follow

ILA’s second album arrives with its live run already booked. Motherland is out now, and UK tour dates follow next month, which leaves very little distance between the record and the rooms it will be played in.

Mikko Gordon produced it. On a second album the person behind the desk tends to matter more than on a debut. A first record can get by on the fact of its own arrival. A second has to show that there is a method underneath it, something repeatable rather than just asserted, and the production is usually where that argument is either made or avoided.

That is the less visible work ILA have taken on here. Touring this soon means the songs will be tested before much framing accumulates around them, with audiences hearing the material live rather than through a long promotional lead-in.
