Dummy Share “N of 1,” the Last Single Before Their Polyvinyl Album

Dummy’s do you love the color of the sky? arrives Friday via Polyvinyl, preceded by a single that splices guitar drone into jungle-derived rhythm.

“N of 1” is the last piece of Dummy’s new album to surface before the whole record does. do you love the color of the sky? arrives Friday on Polyvinyl, following the band’s 2024 album Free Energy.

The single rests on a collision Joe Trainor described plainly: glacial guitar drones, cut apart and rebuilt over jungle-influenced drums. “To me, so much of the record is like the remixed versions of pop songs you’ll never hear,” he said. That line says something about how the band works. The hook is present, but it sits under texture and rhythm that keep it from settling into place.

Tour dates follow the release. October takes Dummy through California and the Pacific Northwest, with stops in Fresno, San Francisco, Sacramento, Reno, Arcata, Portland, Vancouver, Seattle, Boise, Salt Lake City, Denver and Los Angeles. In January and February the band moves through the UK and Europe: Bristol, Leeds, Dublin, Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham, London’s Moth Club, Paris, Tourcoing, Bruges, Amsterdam’s Paradiso Noord Tolhuistuin and Berlin’s Kantine am Berghain.

The album itself will show how far that method carries across a full record, rather than a single track built from salvaged parts.
