The UK producer’s first album since 2024’s ‘Another Touch’ arrives January 22, with guests Rules and Tourist and a new single already out. It lands weeks after his Bob Moses collaboration soundtracked the Grand Theft Auto VI trailer.
The distance between a sync placement and an album rollout is usually a matter of luck. Elderbrook’s looks more deliberate. ‘Inner Light’, his collaboration with Bob Moses, was picked to close the Grand Theft Auto VI trailer, and it moved fast once it did. Now the UK producer has announced ‘Heart On A Wire’, his first album since 2024’s ‘Another Touch’, due January 22.
The record runs ten tracks and includes guest appearances from Rules and Tourist. Lead single ‘Lost In The View’ is out now.
In a note accompanying the announcement, Elderbrook described the album as a return to instinct: “Making ‘Heart On A Wire’ felt like reconnecting with the instincts that first drew me to music. I wanted to approach the album more from an indie music point of view, following ideas wherever they led and letting the songs take shape naturally. That process helped me make a record that feels genuinely true to who I am as a musician.”
That framing matters more than the usual pre-release talk, because it cuts against the register he has been working in lately. A track built to carry a blockbuster trailer is designed for scale and immediate impact. The album he describes is smaller and song-led, assembled by following ideas rather than aiming at a placement. Both can be true of the same artist, but they pull in different directions.
The trailer has already done its work in raising his profile. What ‘Heart On A Wire’ has to answer is whether the record sounds like the one he says he made.
