The November 13 release pairs a GWAR live set from the show’s 2025 Halloween special with songs by the Drive-In’s house band.
GWAR’s next release is a split album, and the split is unusually literal. GWAR and the Last Drive-In-Stein, out November 13, gives Side A to GWAR and Side B to John Brennan and the Bigfeet, the house band for The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs. The pairing marks forty years for both the band and the host, whose Joe Bob’s Drive-In Theater began on The Movie Channel in 1986 before the Shudder era.
The first song shared from the record is “Splatter-Fu,” written for GWAR by Brennan and accompanied by a video. It runs mid-tempo, closer to punk metal than the band’s theatrical thrash, and lands on the refrain “kill, kill, kill.” Side A documents GWAR’s live performance for the show’s 2025 Halloween special. Side B collects Brennan’s material written for the program’s final two seasons, closing with “Thank You, Roger Corman / The Drive-In Oath (Live at Jamboree ’23).”
Both parties framed the record as a natural overlap. GWAR’s Blothar the Berserker credited horror and late-night trash with the band’s existence. Briggs described calling “the intergalactic warriors who live in Antarctica” for “some fear, some filth, and some fun.” That is the premise of the collaboration: two long-running horror-comedy institutions trading the same audience.
GWAR also begin a fall North American tour with Midnight, Mac Sabbath, X-COPS, and Atomic Rule.
