U2’s 2027 Latin American Tour Skips Chile for the First Time

U2 have confirmed six 2027 dates in Mexico, Brazil and Argentina, but Santiago is missing from the itinerary after negotiations that began in 2025 failed to produce a show.

U2 will return to Latin America in 2027 for the first time since 2017, with six shows split between Mexico City, São Paulo and Buenos Aires. The dates sit under “The Greatest Show On Earth World Tour,” built around the band’s 50th anniversary and around Carnaval De Luz, their 16th studio album, out November 13 via Interscope. It is their first set of new material since Songs of Experience, announced in September alongside the single “Silencio,” whose video was filmed in Mexico City. Beck joins as special guest.

The missing name on that itinerary is Chile. According to La Tercera, talks to bring the band to Santiago had been underway since 2025 and ended without a concert. The newspaper reported in March that a 2027 date was being discussed while access to Estadio Nacional was restricted, with authorities prioritising sporting events. La Tercera has not established whether venue availability is what caused the negotiations to collapse.

What makes the omission notable is the record behind it. U2 have played Chile on all four of their previous Latin American touring visits: PopMart in February 1998, the Vertigo Tour in 2006, the 360° Tour in 2011 and The Joshua Tree Tour in October 2017. A run that held for nearly three decades now stops at the border, and the band’s regional routing no longer treats Santiago as automatic.
