Taylor Momsen’s band reworks a track from DEAR GOD with two Foo Fighters veterans, extending a working relationship that has become steadily more visible. The result is a bonus version, not a remix.
The Pretty Reckless have released a bonus version of “About You” featuring Dave Grohl and Pat Smear. Grohl plays drums, guitar and adds backing vocals; Smear plays guitar. The song originally appeared on DEAR GOD, the band’s fifth studio album.
Taylor Momsen said “About You” was one of her favorites on the record and that she called the two musicians to ask whether they would play on it. It is a re-recording with guests rather than a remix, and the fit is not arbitrary. Grohl and Smear belong to the same guitar-rock lineage the band has occupied since Momsen moved from acting to fronting a rock band, and the arrangement puts that continuity on the record instead of leaving it implied.
The collaboration formalizes a relationship that already existed. Momsen appeared with Foo Fighters at the 2026 MusiCares Person of the Year Gala honoring Mariah Carey. She has also stayed close to Seattle’s grunge history, joining Soundgarden’s surviving members Matt Cameron, Kim Thayil and Ben Shepherd, alongside Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, for a halftime performance at the Seahawks’ season opener, then appearing with Cameron, McCready and Tom Morello at Morello’s Power to the People festival in Washington, D.C.
DEAR GOD has already given the band a measurable marker. Its single “When I Wake Up” became their ninth No. 1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, extending their record for the most chart-toppers by a female-led act. The Pretty Reckless tour in support of the album this fall, beginning Nov. 8 in Madrid.
