Judeline Moves to Los Angeles to Write Her Next Album in Spanish

The Spanish singer has relocated to Los Angeles after the global success of “BbY WOW” with Karol G and rusowsky, and says Spanish will remain the language of her next record.

Judeline has moved to Los Angeles to work on her next album, but the Spanish singer is not switching languages. In an interview with El Pais, the 23-year-old said she arrived about a week earlier without a return ticket and has been spending her days in the studio. Two American guys are helping her, she said, but she writes the Spanish lyrics herself.

The move follows “BbY WOW,” her collaboration with Karol G and rusowsky, which appeared on Karol G’s album No Me Arrepiento de Sentir Tanto. The song topped the Billboard Global 200 for five weeks and reached No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving Judeline her biggest chart success so far. She told El Pais that Spanish, particularly with an Andalusian accent, sounds romantic and that its words carry weight.

That position has a wider context. J Balvin has recently discussed how the international success of artists such as Karol G has made recording in English less necessary for Spanish-speaking musicians. Judeline’s next album will follow her 2024 debut, Bodhiria; a title and release date have not been announced.
