Ironworks, a new project from LWE and PROJEKT, will open in October with electronic music events and outdoor programming.
East London’s venue landscape keeps expanding. This October, a 7,000-capacity warehouse space called Ironworks opens at Thames Wharf in the Royal Docks, run by promoter LWE and cultural organisation PROJEKT.
The building splits between a large indoor warehouse and an open-air terrace overlooking the Thames. The teams behind the project say sound, lighting and visual production will be fitted to the existing architecture rather than reshaping it for a generic club setup.
Programming starts with a short run of electronic music events. Lineups come next month. Beyond music, Ironworks also plans outdoor cinema sessions and food markets, moving it slightly away from a pure nightlife operation.
LWE has built a reputation with large-scale London events across spaces like Tobacco Dock. PROJEKT’s involvement points towards a wider cultural brief. The Royal Docks, once heavily industrial, has been inching into London’s conversation for large-capacity event spaces—this adds a serious piece of infrastructure.
Exact dates and lineups remain unannounced. Details will appear on Ironworks’ channels.
