Arts Council England Launches £3m Music Creators Growth Fund

Arts Council England has opened a new funding route aimed at music creators who have moved beyond the first stages of a career but still lack the financial room to pursue larger projects. The Music Creators Growth Fund will distribute a total of £3 million in direct investments of between £10,000 and £20,000.

Eligibility is deliberately narrow. Applicants must show at least three years of active music creation and have earned £5,000 from music in at least one of the last three years. Professional support is expected, though the Arts Council allows creators without management, label, publishing or legal representation to explain how they access advice and networks informally.

The fund is one of three schemes developed under the government’s Music Growth Package, announced in July. In a statement, Arts Council Director of Music Claire Mera-Nelson said direct investment plays a vital role for those “who bring new, original music to audiences around the globe,” and that the fund is intended to support “sounds and voices that reflect the diversity of the UK’s communities.”

Applications for the first round run from 1 to 29 October. The structure suggests a practical acknowledgment that mid-career independent artists often need targeted capital rather than another short-term project grant.
