Original members of the Scottish rock group have legally prevented drummer Mark Brzezicki from touring under the Big Country name.
The remaining original members of Big Country have secured a legal injunction against drummer Mark Brzezicki. It prevents him from performing under the band’s name.
Brzezicki, a founding member who played on hits like “In A Big Country,” had been leading his own touring version of the group. The other surviving founders, guitarist Bruce Watson and bassist Tony Butler, pursued the action to clarify control of the brand. Vocalist Stuart Adamson died in 2001.
The ruling underscores a recurring tension for legacy acts whose commercial viability rests on a recognizable name. For audiences, it formally distinguishes between the faction holding legal rights and other iterations featuring past members.
Big Country’s original lineup last performed together in 2013. The Watson-Butler iteration continues to tour with a different drummer.
