Blackstar ID:X Floor Three Brings Modelling to the Stage at an Accessible Price

The new floor processor builds on the ID:X amp series with eight footswitches, an effects loop, and a straightforward interface, designed to move easily from practice to performance.

Blackstar has extended its ID:X modelling range with three floor processors, each sharing the same DSP engine but diverging in form and control. The ID:X Floor Three sits at the top of the line, trading the smaller units’ three-button simplicity for eight footswitches and an expanded feature set, including an effects loop that can be placed before or after the amp modelling.

The unit houses 12 guitar amp models, three bass amp voices, two acoustic simulators, and an onboard acoustic simulator, all drawn from the existing ID:X sound library. Thirty-five effects round out the tone-shaping options, and players can store configurations across 99 onboard patches. The bent sheet-steel chassis and practical connectivity—XLR outs for front-of-house, a dedicated amp output, stereo line ins and outs, MIDI ports, and a USB-C audio interface—suggest an intention to cover stage, studio, and silent practice without needing a complicated rig.

What distinguishes the Floor Three is not a leap in sound quality over its siblings, but a deliberate step toward live usability. The extra footswitches allow faster patch recall and on-the-fly control, while the treadle adds expression for wah, volume, or parameter changes. The interface itself stays largely hands-on, avoiding deep menu diving. At its price, it positions modelling as something you can grow into, rather than a studio-only experiment.
