The Poison frontman joins four other acts in pulling out, citing a shift toward divisiveness beyond the event’s original scope.
Bret Michaels has become the latest artist to pull out of the Trump administration’s planned Freedom 250 festival. In a statement, the Poison singer said the event had “evolved into something much more divisive than what I agreed to be a part of.”
His withdrawal marks at least the fifth confirmed cancellation from the lineup. Details on other acts remain unconfirmed as organizers have not released an official roster. The festival, set to coincide with America’s 250th anniversary celebrations, has faced growing scrutiny as its political framing takes shape.
Michaels’ decision lands in a space where music festival bookings increasingly double as public alignments. For an artist whose identity has long mixed rock nostalgia with broad, apolitical mass appeal, stepping back suggests a calculation about keeping that audience intact. He did not elaborate on specific grievances, but the phrasing points to something beyond typical scheduling conflicts.
No replacement has been announced. Organizers have not yet addressed the string of departures publicly. The festival’s trajectory now depends on whether more artists follow suit or if a core bill can still hold.
