The group opened the North American leg with a sold-out stadium show and two encore surprises that hadn’t appeared on the tour before.
BTS began the North American stretch of the Arirang world tour Saturday night with the first of three sold-out dates at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. The setlist largely mirrored previous shows in Seoul and Tokyo, but the encore introduced two songs the tour had not yet seen.
“Permission to Dance,” the group’s 2021 single, made its tour debut. It was followed immediately by “Magic Shop,” which BTS had not played live anywhere since 2019. The placement, back to back to close the night, gave the massive production a moment that felt deliberate rather than casual. Neither track had been teased in earlier legs.
The Tampa run continues with shows today and Tuesday before the tour moves to El Paso on May 2 and 3. From there, BTS will play three nights in Mexico City, then settle into Stanford Stadium in Santa Clara for three shows later in May. Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium is also on the schedule, with dates still to be announced in full.
The arrival of “Permission to Dance” and “Magic Shop” doesn’t reshape the tour’s architecture, but it breaks the strict replication that defined the Asian dates. For a stadium tour this size, any shift in the encore signals where the set might go as the North American leg unfolds.
