Clinic Announce Tenth Album ‘Wild In The Streets’

Clinic’s tenth album arrives as a continuation of a career built on resisting easy classification. Wild In The Streets will be released October 30 through Domino, the Liverpool group’s long-standing label home.

Ade Blackburn describes the sessions drawing from exotica’s colourful percussion — specifically Martin Denny and Les Baxter — as well as dub reggae, Cabaret Voltaire, and early rock’n’roll. That spread of influence points less toward homage than toward propulsion. Blackburn notes that some verses were removed entirely to keep the songs moving forward, an approach suited to Clinic’s off-centre psych-pop.

New single “You And I” is out now. It works as an understated earworm, with a directness that doesn’t flatten the band’s strangeness. The album’s tracklist includes “Model Citizen,” “Back to Nature,” “Hypnotised,” and “The Gardener.”

After a decade of albums, Clinic’s relevance isn’t about reinvention so much as persistence. Wild In The Streets suggests the band is still finding ways to make its peculiar musical language feel immediate.
