Desert Age Re-Release Adds Black Flag’s 1981 Palm Springs Performance

Ten years after its original release, Desert Age: A Rock and Roll Scene History returns on November 20 with an expanded edition. The new version adds a section tracing Black Flag’s 1981 Palm Springs performance, a show that laid the seeds for much of the developing desert rock scene and its later fusion of punk, hardcore, doom metal, heavy rock, psychedelia, and progressive music.

Before the wide release, a screening is set for November 7 at Festival Theaters in Palm Springs. A Q&A follows, hosted by Coachella Valley historian Natasha Berenek and featuring Mario Lalli, Brant Bjork, Sean Wheeler, Sophia Possidon, director Jason Georgiades, and producer Trevar Cushing. Tickets are available through EventBrite; the November 20 re-release will be distributed via Georgiades’ website.
