The DC punk band announces a live recording as their planned studio album faces postponement and a shift to self-release.
Ekko Astral will release a live album titled ‘fuck this band: live at the chapel’. The announcement arrives during a period of significant disruption for the Washington DC group.
Their studio album ‘the beltway is burning’ was scheduled for a late April release but has been postponed. Earlier this year, the band parted ways with drummer Miri Tyler. Following a Washington City Paper report detailing a peace order filed by bassist Jae Holzman against Tyler, the band’s label Topshelf Records dropped them.
Ekko Astral has since disputed aspects of the reporting and stated they will self-release the delayed album. The live record documents a recent performance, capturing the band’s current iteration as it navigates an independent path.
