Fatima Al Qadiri Announces Hyperdub EP 3TWI

The Kuwaiti producer returns to original music with a four-track project featuring Gumar, Bobo Secret, and Lama3an, following a stretch of film soundtrack work.

Fatima Al Qadiri has announced a new four-track EP, 3TWI (عتوي), due October 9 via Hyperdub. The title translates as “dirty old man,” according to press materials, and the first single, “7ilween”—loosely rendered as “pretty young things”—is out now with a video directed by Sophia Al-Maria.

The title and single set up a pointed thematic frame, pairing age and predation against youth and desirability. It is familiar territory for Al Qadiri, whose electronic work has long examined Gulf social codes, gender, and power. On this release, the music splits between two modes. Two songs feature Bobo Secret and Lama3an, while the remaining two bring back Gumar, the Kuwali vocalist who gave Al Qadiri’s 2023 EP its name.

The announcement follows a period spent largely outside her own discography. Since 2021’s Medieval Femme, her last standalone album, Al Qadiri has composed several film soundtracks, including one for François Ozon’s L’Étranger. 3TWI marks a return to the vocal-driven club framework she has built on Hyperdub. The cover features original paintings by Khalid al Gharaballi, carrying the project’s visual language into Gulf portraiture.
