The Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist delivered a solo rendition of “Thinkin Bout You” and discussed an unusual injury.
Flea appeared on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ for a performance and interview segment. The Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist performed a solo, instrumental cover of Frank Ocean’s 2011 track “Thinkin Bout You,” translating its melancholic melody to his instrument.
In the subsequent interview, Flea addressed a visible bandage on his forehead. He attributed the injury to what he described as a “bizarre peeing accident,” offering no further elaboration on the incident. The appearance served as a standalone promotional moment, separate from any announced new music from his main band.
The cover choice highlights Flea’s continued engagement with contemporary pop and R&B influences outside his band’s established funk-rock canon. His recent solo work and collaborations have often explored this more melodic and minimalist direction.
