Fuerza Regida Wraps Stadium Tour in New York, Joined by 50 Cent and J Balvin

Fuerza Regida closed their nine-date “This Is Our Dream” stadium tour last night at Citi Field in New York. The tour, which started in June, marked the first time a corridos band had booked a full string of U.S. stadiums—selling out stops in San Francisco, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Houston, and now Queens.

The finale leaned into the group’s habit of bending regional Mexican music toward other worlds. Frontman Jesús Ortiz Paz, known as JOP, brought out 50 Cent, who performed “P.I.M.P.,” “Many Men,” “I Get Money,” and “What Up Gangsta” alongside G-Unit’s Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo. Bobby Shmurda and Shoreline Mafia’s Fenix Flexin also appeared, the latter doing his “Rubberz” hit. J Balvin followed, running through his Bad Bunny-assisted “La Canción” with JOP singing the absent co-star’s verses.

JOP, who earlier opened the show in a Spider-Man suit, addressed the crowd at the end: “We remember when we first came here and nobody knew who we were, and now we’re closing out the tour with a sold-out crowd.” In an interview for this publication’s April cover story, he had noted the pressure of the stadium gamble, but added, “I wouldn’t be doing it if I knew I couldn’t.” The tour proved that point, and the New York closer turned it into a statement about where corridos can reach.
